RCES Last Fellowship Party of the year 2006/7 at Swiss Paradies Restaurant on June 26, 2007

President Marliese Fritz invited all club members to the final “Club Get-Together” under her president-ship to the Swiss Paradise Restaurant in Nongprue, Pattaya.

A varied and tasty Buffet Dinner was served up; Marliese further surprised again by generously inviting all who turned up to free drinks for the entire night. The party started with some fine live-background music performed by an excellent singer, Keyboard Accordion and trumpet playing musician from the “Schwabenland”. His musicianship and the program performed gave the party the relaxed background and soon a very casual ambiance. Some even began dancing to the pleasant tunes.

The highlight was farewell gift to Marliese. Already known, she loves elephants and has an extensive elephant collection! Steve did think of an wonderful fare-well present. He went shopping and bought a “baby elephant” (1.40 meter high). “Well, it is alive”, as he mentioned in his short introduction speech, “needed pruning and survives on water and very likely will remain in her small garden”.

In the car-park, where the “beast” was waiting covered in plastic and all club members assembled, the “veil” was lifted. The sight made our good President speechless for a while. It was a elephant which takes about three years to grow. It is shaped in to a decorative shrub. The shape is determined by a pre-fabricated wire-mesh. The best thing for all of us present was that the surprised Marliese did not freak out. An attempt to try to say “thank you” was gorged by watery eyes and she felt so overwhelmed that her “thank you very big” needed more effort than chairing our meetings for the past year.

Marliese, once more, from all Club Member of the RCES, we thank you, are glad to have had you as our President and may you be blessed with many happy years to provide relieve to the less privileged and stay in good health.
