Complex Medical Treatment Project for 17 children  

MG Project with RC Pijnacker-Nootdorp, D-1600 (International Partner) and RCES (Host Country Partner). This project provided Complex Medical Treatment to 17 children, in all initiated by Rtn.Martin Brands from the RCES end:

* 15 Children are Burmese. Thanks to great compassion of Thai doctors and other medical professionals and staff at Maharaj Nakorn Regional Hospital in Chiang Mai, North Thailand. We do so with our Cooperating Partner for these 15 patients, the Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, North-West Thailand. RCES have cooperated this Clinic since 2004.
* 2 Children are Thai. They are be helped by medical teams of Chulalongkorn Hospital & Medical School and Ramathibodi Hospital & Medical Faculty

The MG project entertains these children with ailments listed below:

* 13 Children will receive Cardiac Surgery; 6 suffer from Tetralogy of Fallot, 4 from a Ventricle Septal Defect, and 3 from a Mitral Valve Defect.
* 2 Children will receive Complex Reconstructive Surgery on their Digestive Tract.
* 1 Child will receive Complex Reconstructive Surgery and Physical Therapy needed as a result of very severe burns.
* 1 Child will receive Complex Cranio-Facial Surgery.

Uraiwan Boonphuek at the Thai Red Cross Rehabilitation Center, Samut Prakan 

Life has been very cruel to Uraiwan Boonphuek. At a young age she lost both of her parents. Since that tragic event she has lived with her aunt in Klong Thoey, Bangkok.

She was a pretty and bright girl who loved to study and read and dream about a bright future. That dream fell apart when a candle set fire to her bedroom last July, causing extensive burns to 50 percent of her body ...

Suttipong (La) Mullawan, Operation at Ramathibodi Hospital, Pediatric Intensisive Care Unit, Bangkok 

He was has suffered terrible facial damages in a motorbike accident.
(Severe Cranio-facial Defects.)

Under the care of a team of 4 surgeons. Has received substantial cranio-facial surgery for first priority: to restore normal eating & hearing. Spent almost 4 months in Ramathibodi Hospital, Bangkok, about 500 km from home. Returned home early April with instructions for daily excercises & care, also in preparation for dental surgery.
